I had found a pretty decent place to stay in Amsterdam, in town, with nice sized rooms and for a good price but because we were so indecisive and Jeff was feeling a little burnt out with all the details of planning, we lost it to, "No availability for dates selected". Damn. But, it refocused us, so we finally decided to pick the boat place. We figure that the small rooms will be manageable with a common area (on a boat!), free wi-fi, bar, lockers, 24-hour hot showers and close to town for a good price (nearly 1/2 the average price of other hostels!). So, booked!
We've also decided not to keep reserving hostels before we get there; we want to ensure that booking through our hostel site works and we want to leave some room for spontaneity once we reach the 'mainland'. We want some freedom to meet people and decide as we go along :) It also takes some of the pressure off.
Whew. Now that that's decided, I feel better. Relieved even. I'm also more excited.
We'll take things as they come and plan the best we can (without burning out before we leave - which we were on the verge of...). I'm sure the excitement will continue to mount as each week passes and we get closer to departure day.
We're plugging away at our to-do list; next, sew Canadian flag patches on our back packs :)
