It's all in the planning!

I L-O-V-E trip planning... even though my head spins sometimes and I'm boggled by all of the information out there, the idea of finding neat places to stay and attractions to explore... exciting stuff!!

Right now, Jeff and I are trying to choose a place in Amsterdam once we arrive; so far, the cheapest choices (excluding dorm style rooms) are:

A) On a boat, close to town, with rooms the size of a closet;

OR

B) On a campground setting, much farther from town, and in a camper;

Either would be a really neat experience but which makes most sense for transportation costs, comfort, etc...?

We'll pay the same amount for both places per night, which leaves us to figure out the pros and cons of each place;

Boat
Pros:
- It's a BOAT! Come on, that's a selling point right there :)
- There looks to be a lounge we could spend time in when we're not in our rooms
- Free internet
- Close to town
- Breakfast is included

Cons:
- Tiny, tiny rooms (that's all I can really think of)

Camper
Pros:
- It's a camper! We'll be out with other people 'camping'
- LOTS of positive reviews about the hostel re: staff, activities to get involved in (hiking, swimming, kayaking, ping pong)
- Cooking facilities are available to us so we don't have to rely on eating out all of the time as it's expensive
- Breakfast is included
- Washing machines available

Cons:
- It takes about an hour to the central station from shuttle to bus - which means time and money and we're not sure when the last bus can take us back (we read somewhere that it was 10pm and another one said 1:15am... I emailed the hostel to see as we'd like to experience the nightlife, if we're not too tired!)
- Will be crappy if we've got poor weather as we'll be outside for everything outside of our camper

I'm still not quite sure but at least I can bring some of these ideas back to Jeff. We've got some more thinking to do before we decide! But the thinking is fun :)

  1. Boat! If 'c' is not an option as an answer for any of lifes questions the answer is boat. Always boat! ;)
